Heavy Antique Brass Mortar and Pestle c. 1800

Description

I have had several of these antique brass mortar and pestles  and realize it is hard to put a specific date on them but I think this set must date to before about 1830 both give their patina as well as the decorative turning marks both on the mortar's side and on its underside.  Both are very heavily made.  The only mark I found on either piece is the number 8 on the base of the mortar.  There are few nicks and abrasions on the pieces as would be expected for utilitarian implements such as these that have probably been used over 200 years.  Both have great old patinas and look like they could be put back into service tomorrow.  The mortar is 4 3/8" tall and is 4 3/4" wide at the lip.  The pestle is 8" long.  Their combined weight is 5 lbs.
