    A friend closed his pharmacy about 10 years ago after almost 50 years and gave us a number of vintage pharmaceutical items which we are listing
    This is the fourth of them
    This is a vintage brass mortar and pestle
    It commemorates Louis J. Dufilho Jr. America's First Licensed Practicing Pharmacist 1816
    There is Rx on the front and back of the mortar; there are raised windows on one side
    There are a few Latin phrases etched on the mortar as well
    The mortar is 2 1/2" tall and 2" across the top
    The pestle is 3 1/2" tall and marked Coricidin
    Nice vintage piece
